Letter to Parent

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the IAAMS (Integral association of amateur Mathematicians and Scientists) Olympiad Exams 2012-2013.

IAAMS conducts Olympiads in Science and Mathematics every year in more than 1000 schools from Indian sub-continent and in other Middle East countries. More than 1, 41,249 students participated in the IAAMS 2011 and more than 1000 Amateur Mathematicians and Scientists have participated for the “Nurture Programs” and enjoyed the spirit of “PURE PURSUIT” of Science and Mathematics. We invite the wonder called your child to participate in IAAMS Olympiad 2011 and be a vital part of building the Nations Scientific and Technological literacy.

IAAMS is an initiative by amateur Scientists and Mathematicians from diversified backgrounds and from the prestigious institutions like IITs IIMs. We have professors of Indian origin who are working for different Universities abroad and Scientists from reputed organizations like ISRO .The vision of IAAMS is to inculcate scientific temper in young minds and build the required scientific and research and development pool for the nation.

This Olympiad exam is based on understanding concepts, their day to day application, visualization, looking at any problem from different perspectives, social and scientific awareness, educated deduction of answers and strong time management and elimination skills. The exam is conducted in two subjects mainly Mathematics and Science. IAAMS Olympiad 2012-2013 is conducted in three subjects.

Mathematics International Amateurs Mathematical Olympiad (IAMO)
Science International Amateurs Science Olympiad (IASO)
Computer Skills & English International Amateurs Computer Skills & English Olympiad (IACEO)
Each of these exams is conducted in two levels, Prelims and Mains.
Prelims will constitute the multiple choice questions (MCQs) and Mains will constitute the descriptive type of questions. All these activities precede our Nurture programs-flagship model of
IAAMS.

I
AAMS provides the opportunity to be a part of the scientific team of the country from classes 2 to 10.Every student participating in the exam gets a detailed diagnostic report that provides comprehensive assessment on student’s strengths and weaknesses including the comparative performance within the school and the Nation. All the participants also receive a certificate from IAAMS for their performance.
In addition to that IAAMS provides an excellent platform for the students to get
Exposure to a larger pool of students from different syllabus backgrounds
Opportunity for all participating students to re-explore the subjects through arduous preparation and a chance to prepare from the other syllabi text books.
Revision of text books of the previous class and the opportunity to appreciate the connection
You will develop awareness towards your surroundings and start enjoying Mathematics and Sciences rather than thinking of them as just school subjects
Chance to win scholarships and unique opportunities to meet the professional scientists by being a part of the nurture programs of IAAMS
Every student will get the strength and weakness analysis in the respective subjects. The five Q’s will really enrich the inferences you are going to make about your performance.
Every student will have the assessment of your abilities vis-a-vis other students who are your peers and those who might compete with you in the future in entrance exams like IIT-JEE, JIPMER, AIIMS, GRE, GMAT and CAT and different competitive exams, which makes a student, strive to achieve competency on a large domain rather than settling for scores gained in school exams.
The top performers of each class in each subject are awarded gold medals, cash prizes along with the certificate of “AMATEUR MATHEMATICIAN / SCIENTIST FOR THE YEAR 2012”. The students in the nurture programme interact with the real time Scientists and Mathematicians along with hands on experience in live projects.

This unique educational initiative and assessment procedure helps students to a make honest self introspection on their individual strengths and weaknesses. Students can also benchmark themselves against global standards among their peer group. We recommend that your child participates in both the exams to achieve maximum benefit in
IAAMS 2012-20113.

Notification for the exam is given in the brochure, which constitutes all the details of the
IAAMS 2012-2013. Please register at the earliest possible date. The last date for registrations is September 13th.
